We understand that many people have a vision of the garden they would like to create, but do not have the technical skill or horticultural savvy to make their dream a reality. Garden coaching can be the solution. Coaching is a personalized, mentor-driven approach that focuses on education and empowerment by providing site-specific advice tailored to your gardening ambitions, soil, sunlight, and climate. Whether you are a beginner looking to start your first garden or a seasoned gardener facing challenges, a coach can help you avoid costly mistakes, guide your plant choices, and build the confidence to sustain a thriving outdoor space on your own. We now offer three options for garden coaching depending on your primary needs and goals.
🌼 Garden Coaching At Your Home for Design, Edibles and Biodiversity:
Having a professional gardener come to your home is one of the best ways to solve your landscape dilemmas and help you prioritize your goals. During the visit we will closely evaluate your landscape situation and take photos for the feedback part of the consultation. You can ask questions and explore ideas with a professional so specific guidance can be provided. Before the visit we will send you a brief questionnaire so we can learn about what you would like to focus on thus, ensuring you will get the most out of the consultation time.
Cost $250 for 1.5 hours plus written feedback. At this time we are only working in Ulster County.
🌼 Garden Coaching for Rewilding:
Are you more of a naturalist than a gardener? Not inspired to create structured gardens and all they entail ? Have you thought about letting your property revert to a more natural state focused on supporting wildlife and local native plants, but don’t know where to start? A rewilding consultation consists of a professional, site-specific assessment designed to help landowners restore natural ecosystems, increase biodiversity, and reduce active management. During the consultation the site will be evaluated for potential habitats and guidance will be provided on how to create self-sustaining, resilient ecosystems as part of a landscape. We also take into account that landscapes need to function for people in terms of access and aesthetics. The meeting will be followed up with specific resources, plant lists and targeted advice to get you started on transforming your current landscape to one that is hyper beneficial for nature and less work for you.
Cost $250 for 1.5 hours plus written feedback. At this time we are only working in Ulster County.
🌼 Design Assistance by Appointment in the Nursery:
We have always offered some design help in the nursery, but it was mostly on the spur of the moment, limited in scope and dependent on a garden designer being available. To make this service more accessible, we are now offering scheduled appointments for you to work directly with a designer and plant expert. After making an appointment, you will need to email a few photos of the area you want help with along with approximate dimensions of the space. When you come in, you should bring a simple sketch of the general area showing where the sun comes up along with other features such as large trees, septic, children or pet play areas, etc. that need to be considered. We will then mark out the garden space in the nursery and work with you to create a layout that is an appropriate design based on your soil, sunlight, plant preferences and budget. Afterwards, a simple sketch of the layout will be created and you can take photos to reference for spacing when you are ready to plant.
The cost of this consultation is $150 and you should plan for the session to last an hour or a little more. Plant purchasing is optional and can be done at the time of the consultation or on a return visit. You will be given a list of the plants and a sketch of the layout either way.
