At Catskill Native Nursery we carry the largest selection of North American native plants in New York with a focus on regional species. We obtain some plants from other growers, and propagate some of our own, mostly species rare in horticulture, or our own selections. Most of our propagation is done using local seed obtained ethically from the wild; we also obtain seed of species whose range is outside our region from other native plant nurseries. Some plants are propagated from cuttings or division of stock plants maintained at the nursery. Our emphasis is on straight species, though we have found many cultivars to not only be beautiful but beneficial to wildlife, and have selected the best of them to grace your gardens.

Green Witch Herbs & Beneficial Non-Natives
Green Witch Herbs was created as a complementary extension of Catskill Native Nursery. Here you will find a large selection of culinary, fragrant and medicinal herbs, along with many favorite non-native cottage flowers that pollinators enjoy.

Ecological Landscaping
We define ourselves as ecological landscapers because we take into consideration the relationships between plants and animals that support one another in natural communities. Our goal is to create beautiful gardens that function like ecosystems. This leads to a stronger, healthier environment that reflects the historical beauty of our region. When you look out upon your gardens, we want you to feel "a sense of place" with this special geographical area of New York.

Pottery & Garden Art

The Ugly Plant Sale starts around the 4th of July and continues until we close on October 31st. You could find anything from Amelanchier to Zenobia to fill in those bare spots or beef up the hedgerow with savings up to 70%. Some plants may be a little sparse on leaves or lean at odd angles, but all of them are healthy and cheap - they just won't make the cover of Fine Gardening anytime soon. With some TLC and patience these ugly duckings could all become garden swans. The sale goes on until they are gone.
